Three's Company-Inspired Bar Crawl Takes Over Babylon
A group impersonating Mrs. Roper of the '70s TV show "Three's Company" took over a Long Island village for a nationwide weekend bar crawl.

BABYLON, NY — A crowd of curly-haired, caftan-wearing LGBTQ+ supporters impersonating Mrs. Roper from the 1970s TV show Three's Company bar-hopped in Babylon last weekend as part of a nationwide bar crawl.
On Saturday, rompers took to the streets of Babylon Village for its second annual Roper Romp Bar Crawl, dropping in at various bars throughout the evening.
The group channeled Helen Roper, the quirky landlady who always intervened with her tenants, the trio Three's Company focused on. Played by actress Audra Lindley, Mrs. Roper has been honored every June for Pride Month since 2013, when it began as a parade in New Orleans at a pride celebration known as Southern Decadence.

Since then, Roper Romps have become popular nationwide and the Mrs. Roper Romp Facebook currently boasts over 70,000 members.

The Long Island Chapter of the International Order of Mrs. Ropers hosts various romps around Long Island, including annual bar crawls in Babylon, West Islip and Cherry Grove on Fire Island.

In Babylon, the Roper Romp kicked off at the Post Office Cafe, before moving on to Del Fuego and ending at Mary Carroll's. The last stop featured a grand finale hosted by local drag queen Ivy Stalls, who announced the best-dressed of the night and awarded prizes.
In the spirit of Pride Month, each bar offered a specialty-themed menu with discounted prices for rompers.
Rompers romped with a cause in support of Pride for Youth—an organization dedicated to enhancing the health and wellness of the LGBTQ+ community through education, supportive services, and personal development.
