Town Of Babylon To Offer Free Mammograms
The Stony Brook Cancer Center's mammography van will offer free screenings on June 29.
BABYLON, NY — Town of Babylon residents will soon have the opportunity to stay on top of their health — without a co-pay.
The Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition, in partnership with the Stony Brook Cancer Center, will be holding free mammograms on Wednesday, June 29 at Babylon Town Hall, located at 200 Sunrise Hwy in Lindenhurst, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Screenings will take place in Stony Brook's custom designed, 40-ft. mobile mammography van, which offers state-of-the-art 3D digital mammograms.

According to a press release, the van has a "comfortable waiting area," a private dressing room and a complete exam room.
The screenings will be performed by registered radiologic technologists with advanced training in mammography. Mammogram results will be sent to each patient's physician of choice.

Eligible residents include women who:
- Are 40 years of age and older
- Have not received a mammogram in the past year
- Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have no implants or breast issues
- Have never been diagnosed with breast cancer
Individuals who not have health insurance will be processed through the cancer services program of New York, if eligible.
