Traffic Alert: Crash Closes Route 109 In West Babylon

WEST BABYLON, NY — The Suffolk County Police Department is advising motorists that both directions of Route 109 in West Babylon are closed Thursday morning.

Route 109 is closed in both directions between Little East Neck Road and Edel Avenue, police said. Long delays are expected as crews work to replace a damaged utility pole due to a crash that took place late Wednesday night when a 27-year-old male driving a 2021 Honda struck a low- hanging wire, lost control of the vehicle and hit a pole, police said.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area plan accordingly, police said.
