W. Babylon Budget Passes; Klein, Scarlatos, Kranz Elected

West Babylon passes its $98 million budget with over 60 percent of voter's approval.

The West Babylon School District budget passed with 64.9 percent of "yes" voters and incumbents Diane Klein and Peter Scarlatos will be joined by Dennis Kranz as all three were chosen to the Board of Education.

Voters passed the proposed $98.685 million budget for the 2013-2014 school year by a nearly two-to-one ratio of 1,244 "yes" votes and 679 "no" votes.

Incumbent Board of Education members Diane Klein and Peter Scarlatos were re-elected to their positions, taking home the most votes during the evening. Klein received 1,288 votes and Scarlatos had 992 votes.

Newcomer Dennis Kranz beat out Enrique Herrera and Paul Perez for the final board seat with 892 votes.

Herrera finished closely with 852 votes and Perez received 673 votes.
