West Babylon School District Budget Vote: What You Need To Know

Here's what you need to know before you cast your ballot in West Babylon.

WEST BABYLON, NY — West Babylon residents are heading to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the 2024 to 2025 school budget vote and school board candidate election.

The West Babylon School District's proposed budget of $136,882,275 reflects a budget-to-budget increase of a 5.774 percent from the current $129,410,664 and a tax levy increase of 4.99 percent.

This is above the district’s 2.013 percent tax-cap limit, so a 60 percent majority vote is required for approval, requiring a super majority of 60 percent to pass.

According to the district, it has not pierced the tax cap in 10 years.

John Evola (incumbent), Shannon Camarda, Stephan Maucere and Anthony Raccomandato are the four candidates running for the board of education's three open seats.

Polling will take place at the district administration building at 10 Farmingdale Road and at Santapogue Elementary School at 1130 Herzel Boulevard from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

According to the district's website, residents north of Sunrise Highway will vote at the elementary school while those south of Sunrise Highway will vote at the administration building.
