West Babylon Science Olympiad Teams Face Off In National Competition

West Babylon High School hosted the third annual Science Olympiad competition on May 13.

WEST BABYLON, NY — Junior scientists at West Babylon Junior High hosted the third annual Elementary Science Olympiad, the school district announced Friday.

The Science Olympiad is a competition where students compete in numerous events related to various fields of science, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics and engineering.

On May 13, teams from the district’s five elementary schools competed in five events.

"Students and staff had a great time all while taking part in some very challenging science activities," the school wrote in a press release. "All the teams and coaches put forth an outstanding effort."

In the end, Forest Avenue won first place, Tooker Avenue took second place, South Bay placed in third, John F. Kennedy in fourth place and Santapogue was in fifth place.
