Wine and Food Pair Up at Ristorante Gemelli's Weekend Event

This Sunday, Ristorante Gemelli will host another of its popular multi-course wine dinners.

Looking for something to do in the village this weekend? Save the Sunday cooking for another day and head to Ristorante Gemelli for a five-course wine and food pairing, taking place 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 25.

Reservations are required for the event, which is designed to give patrons a culinary experience in the pairing of wine with different foods, while they enjoy a carefully planned meal.

Scott Daugherty, marketing representative for the restaurant, said that the popular dinners are offered seasonally, and that the chefs construct the menu and dishes around the wine choices.

"They work with the winery [Marco Maci in Puglia, Italy] and the sommelier to shape the menu around the wines," explained Daugherty.

"It's a great time. The wines are excellent and generously portioned and it's just a fun, loose, free-flowing atmosphere."

The dinner costs $85 per person, which includes tax and tip, and consists of: an antipasti assortment; stuffed zucchini flowers; swordfish rollatini; braised short ribs with sweet potato polenta; and a dessert of chocolate pear pouches.

The menu, inspired by fall flavors, features a range of wine varieties including reds like Tonnino Nero D'avola and Malvasia Nera and whites such as Sauvignon Blanc from Marco Maci and Tonnino Grillo.
