1 Dead After Fire Rips Through 3 Homes On Long Island: PD

A woman was killed by a raging fire that ripped through 3 homes on Long Island early Thursday morning, police say.

BAY SHORE, NY — Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad is investigating a fire that ripped through three homes in Bay Shore, killing one person and injuring another, Suffolk County police told Patch.

Police said the fire started at 1:30 a.m. Thursday in a house at 1417 N. Windsor Ave., with three occupants inside, and spread to two other homes.

An adult female was killed, an adult male was treated and released at a local hospital, and another adult male was not injured, police said.

The identity of the woman is pending confirmation by personnel from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, according to police.

Police said no injuries were reported from the other two homes.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it does not appear to be criminal in nature at this time, police said.
