1 Dead, 3 Injured In West Islip Car Crash: PD

One woman died while three others were injured in a West Islip crash early Saturday morning, police say.

WEST ISLIP, NY — One woman was killed and another was seriously injured in a West Islip car crash early Saturday morning, Suffolk police said.

A woman driving a 2023 Infiniti Q50 westbound on Union Boulevard, just east of Route 231, at around 2:30 a.m., when the vehicle lost control and side-swiped a westbound 2020 Hyundai Sonata causing both vehicles to crash, police said.

A female passenger in the Infiniti was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where she was pronounced dead, according to police. Another female passenger in the Infiniti was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries while the car's driver and two other passengers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

According to police, the driver and passenger of the Hyundai was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
