Car Crash Hospitalizes 3 People On LI: Police

Three people were injured and hospitalized in a 2-vehicle crash on Long Island Thursday night, according to Suffolk County police.

BAY SHORE, NY — A woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Long Island Thursday night, according to Suffolk County police.

Lenis Martinez, 19, of Brentwood, was driving a 2009 Honda Accord northbound on Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore when a vehicle traveling southbound made a left onto Smith Street in front of Martinez.

Martinez then swerved across Fifth Avenue into the southbound lanes and was struck on the passenger side of the vehicle by a southbound 2013 Hyundai Sonata driven by Justin Smith, 33, of Bay Shore, around 11:25 p.m., police said.

Martinez's passenger, Erica Camacho, 22, of Brentwood, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries, police said. Martinez and Smith were also transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check, police said.
