According to a report by News12, the girl's father said his daughter was getting into their car when the dog latched onto her face and wouldn't let go, leaving her with numerous stitches in her face, nine staples in her head and a split eyebrow and has to return to the plastic surgeon in three weeks.
The outlet said the dog's owner came out and called the dog off before the child was rushed to the hospital. News12 said her family wants the dog taken away, and in the meantime, the Town of Islip told its owners to confine it for 10 days.
