Man Arrested, Charged With Felony After Assaulting Elderly Man: PD
An East Patchogue man was arrested in Bay Shore on Tuesday for assaulting an elderly man in Commack on May 7, according to police.
BAY SHORE, — An East Patchogue man was arrested in Bay Shore Tuesday after assaulting an elderly man in Commack, police said.
Robert Whittaker, 56, of East Patchogue was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, a felony, after Suffolk County Police received a call reporting that he was on East Main Street in Bay Shore Tuesday around 4:15 p.m., police said.
According to police, Whittaker was panhandling for money in a parking lot on Garet Place in Commack when he pushed a 79-year-old man, which caused minor injuries.

He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is slated to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
