Teen Charged In 2022 Shooting Of Ronkonkoma Man In Bay Shore: PD

BAY SHORE, NY — Police have made an arrest in the death of a Ronkonkoma man who was found shot in the parking lot of a church in Bay Shore in 2022.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives arrested an 18-year-old man Friday, accusing him of killing Linver Ortiz-Ponce 18 months ago, police said.

Officers responding to a 911 call just before 1 a.m. Sept. 17, 2022 found the body of Ortiz-Ponce, 29, outside the House of Prayer Church, police said.

Still considered a juvenile, the man was slated to be arraigned Friday in the Youth Part of First District Court in Central Islip, police said. He faces charges of second degree murder and first degree kidnapping, police said.
