Apply To March In Bayside's St. Patrick's Day Parade
Applications for the fourth annual parade, which will take place in March for the first time since 2019, opened this week. Learn more here.
BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Organizations, businesses, and bands in Bayside can all apply to march in this year's St. Patrick's Day parade.
In order to secure a spot in the March 26 parade, groups need to fill out an application form and send it to the committee (over email or by mail) by March 15, organizers announced on Wednesday.
The parade will start at 1 p.m. and march down Bell Boulevard from 35th Avenue to 42nd Avenue, organizers said last month.

This year's parade will be the first held in March since 2019, since the event was cancelled two years in a row amid the pandemic (the community celebrated a somewhat unconventional Halfway to Saint Patrick's Day Parade last September, though).
The March 26 parade, however, doesn't exactly coincide with the St. Patrick's Day holiday, which is March 17.

Organizers did not respond to Patch's inquiry as to how the date was chosen, but did say on Facebook that it was a community decision.
"After speaking to members of the community and receiving lots of feedback, the committee decided to keep the parade on the Saturday," organizers wrote in their initial parade announcement post.
Those who want to participate closer to the holiday itself can attend a celebratory dinner the weekend before at the Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk & Queens in Long Island.
At $70 per-person, the dinner includes an open bar, buffet dinner, and live music, and helps to defray the cost of the parade.
Organizers, however, noted that the parade is still an "expensive undertaking" and urged locals to make donations.
Marching band applications for the parade should be sent to Brendan Mullaney at Rustyocpx@aol.com and marching unit applications should be sent to A. Warren Scullin at arthurscullin@gmail.com, according to the application form.
The application can also be mailed to the committee at P.O Box 604084 Bayside, NY 11360.
