BAYSIDE, QUEENS — Baysiders who've ventured outside might already know that their neighborhood is among the snowiest parts of New York City.
On Friday morning, after a snow storm hit NYC, the National Weather Service reported that 7.7 inches of snow was dumped on Bayside, rivaling the half foot that blanketed most other parts of the city.
For Bayside families looking to make the most of the snow there's good news: Bayside's Crocheron Park is among the best places in Queens to go sledding, according to the Parks Department.

Students, however, will have to wait until after they return to school, which was not canceled, though lateness is excused.
The city did make some snow-related adjustments on Friday, though, like suspending alternate side parking through Saturday.

For New Yorkers commuting across the five boroughs, forecasters warned of "treacherous" conditions on untreated roads, and urged caution. Some citywide trains were canceled, too.
In northwest Queens, up to 8.4 inches pummeled East Elmhurst, grounding over 300 flights at LaGuardia airport, among hundred of other region-wide flight cancellations.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect until noon Friday.
