BAYSIDE, QUEENS -- Classes got off to a late start at a Bayside high school Monday as authorities searched the grounds for explosives threatened in an email to the principal, police told Patch.
Students and staff were evacuated from Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, located at 5700 223rd St., on Monday morning after the school's principal received an email at around 7 a.m. saying there was a threat of explosives to the school, an NYPD spokesman said.
Police said officers searched the school and found no credible threat of explosives. Officers don't yet know who sent the email, and the investigation is ongoing.
Students headed back to their scheduled classes at around 9:15 a.m. after the NYPD deemed the building safe, according to the high school's website. The school had initially posted on the website that students and staff were being evacuated "due to the cold weather."
