BAYSIDE, QUEENS — U.S. veterans and active-duty military members can get a free meal at the Bay Terrace Shopping Center this Thursday.

In honor of Veterans Day, Cord Meyer Development will purchase $25-worth of food from Bay Terrace Shopping Center restaurants for U.S. veterans and active-duty military members.

“Our veterans and active-duty military personnel give so much of themselves in support of our
freedom and in defending the United States around the globe," said Cord Meyer President and CEO Matthew Whalen, who described it as an "honor" for Cord Meyer to reimburse meals for veterans.

According to Whalen, many of the shopping center's restaurants already have special offers planned for Veterans Day, and locations that are participating in the development company's promotion will have more information for people who show proof of service.

Both the Bay Terrace Shopping Center and Cord Meyer have been working on charitable programs in recent months: In June the shopping center hosted a job fair and free pop-up boutique for people in need.

The following month the two entities partnered for a classic car show, which raised funds for Saint Mary's Hospital for Children.
