DOUGLASTON, QUEENS — A train station plaza is turning into a winter wonderland this weekend.

Douglaston Station Plaza will be the site of the Douglaston Winter Festival from noon to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 11th.

The festival is free to attend, and includes an array of family-friendly winter-themed activities, including ice skating, face painting, live music, local crafts, and food. Some of these activities, however, cost money.

According to the Douglaston Local Development Corporation, which is organizing the event with funds from local City Council Member Paul Vallone and the city's Department of Transportation, the outdoor event will follow "NYC-mandated COVID protocols."

When outdoors, fully vaccinated people are not mandated to wear masks, but unvaccinated people over the age of two must wear masks in outdoor situations where they aren't able to keep six-feet of distance, city guidelines say.
