NBC Comes To Bayside To Film New Comedy Show 'Hank Mardukas'

The project has yet to be publicly announced, but the name appears in the 2009 Paul Rudd bromance "I Love You, Man."

BAYSIDE, QUEENS – NBCUniversal came to Bayside Thursday to film a new comedy series that has yet to be announced, according to flyers posted in the neighborhood and a city website.

The production crew of "Hank Mardukas" — a project possibly linked to the 2009 movie "I Love You, Man" — claimed multiple parking spots Thursday on 223 Street between Northern Boulevard and 46th Avenue, flyers posted to the Bayside, Queens Facebook group show.

“We understand that filming can be somewhat disruptive, and we will make every effort to mitigate any possible inconvenience,” reads the flyer.

Film crews also claimed space on the north side of 35th Avenue, between Bell Boulevard and 213th Street between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., according to the flyers.

Universal Television LLC, NBCUniversal's television production company, has yet to make an official announcement about "Hank Mardukas" and press representatives did not immediately provide Patch with a comment.

The city's Media and Entertainment department did not respond to Patch's request for more information, but the project does appear on their list of television shows filming in New York City.

The name Hank Mardukas appears in “I Love You, Man,” as the best friend of a character played by J.K. Simmons.

A movie clip shared on reddit shows that while the television show has yet to make a splash, the character may already have a fan base.

"I thought my friends and I were the only ones who enjoyed this small callback," wrote one redditer.

"Whenever your [sic] listing a group of people for someone always add 'and of course my best friend, Hank Mardukas.'"
