For some people, it's all hooey. For some, it's a force they hope to never reckon with. Across the globe, people fear a bad energy known as as "the evil eye", "mal de ojo", "eyin hara" and many other names. The idea is that a scornful look by someone else—evoked usually by jealousy—can work to change your luck for the worse.
