As Moammar Qaddafi's days as the ruler of Libya are reportedly numbered, what will happen to the country he ruled for 42 years?

As unconfirmed reports that Libyan rebel forces supported by NATO have overtaken ruler Moammar Qaddafi's compound, analysts speculate on what could be next for the North African nation.

Former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton shared his analysis on Fox News, posing the possibility that Libya could end up a lawless nation, much as Somalia remains two decades after civil war broke out in that country. Bolton emphasized that this theory was not a prediction, but only one possibility.

CNN's Jill Dougherty reports that a quick-acting interim government led by the Transitional Council in Benghazi would help to "lay the basis of writing a constitution." Dougherty reports;

“US officials say they’re encouraged by the reports that the rebels  have set up check points around public buildings to promote public safety.” 

Author John R. Bradley writes in the Daily Mail that he does not believe "a popular thirst for democracy" will emerge any more than he believes it has in Egypt or Tunisia.
