Queens Councilman Barry Grodenchik Tests Positive For Coronavirus
City Council Member Barry Grodenchik is the sixth member of the City Council to either test positive for the virus or experience symptoms.

OAKLAND GARDENS, QUEENS — City Council Member Barry Grodenchik has tested positive for the new coronavirus, he announced Thursday on social media. He is at least the sixth member of the City Council to either test positive for the virus or experience symptoms.
Grodenchik, who represents parts of eastern Queens, has been home with family since March 14 and will remain in isolation until he's fully recovered, he said in a tweet.
Today I received confirmation that I tested positive for #coronavirus. I've been home w/ my family since 3/14 and have had no physical contact w/ anyone else during that time. I'm starting to feel much better and will continue to remain in isolation until I'm fully recovered.

Queens Council Member Paul Vallone said Wednesday that he'd tested positive for the virus, and fellow Queens Council Member Costa Constantinides announced later the same day that he was self-quarantining with a presumed case of the coronavirus.

Manhattan Council Member Mark Levine, who chairs the council's health committee, says he suspects he has the virus but will not get tested to preserve tests for others.
New York City has more than 48,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 — a third of which are in Queens — and roughly 1,400 people had died as of Thursday morning, according to city data.
