Village People Tribute Band Coming To Bayside On Sunday Night
A tribute band with some of the disco group's original members will perform hits like "YMCA" and "Macho Man" at the Bay Terrace mall.
Correction: A previous article incorrectly stated that the Village People are coming to Bayside. The group that is performing, The Kings of Disco, is actually a tribute band to the Village People that features some original and longtime members of the famous band.
BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A group of performers who used to be in the Village People is coming to Bayside, along with hits songs like “YMCA,” “In The Navy,” and “Macho Man."
On Sunday, Aug. 29, The Kings of Disco, a tribute group featuring original and longtime members of the Village People, will sing the 1970s dance hits at a drive-in at The Bay Terrace Shopping Center.

The concert, which kicks off at 7 p.m., is the shopping center's second drive-in show, following a Rock of Ages event in July. A Beatles tribute band will perform a drive-in concert at Bay Terrace in Sep., too.
Tickets to see The Kings of Disco are quickly selling out and only "full occupancy" tickets are still available, with a price tag of $100 for a car holding two people.

Although the show doesn't begin until 7 p.m., cars are allowed into the lot starting at 5:30 p.m., but come 6:50 p.m. the lot will be closed — even to ticket holders.
Concert-goers who want to get out of their cars to groove along to the group's music can do so in the vacant parking space to the right of every vehicle, show organizers said, since cars will be spread out in order to enforce social distancing.
But seating is BYOC — bring your own chairs — and everyone who gets out of their car needs to wear a mask, according to the organizers.
You can hear the performers from your car, however, by tuning into the correct FM radio station, which organizers will announce at the show.
There's a chance to buy food from on-site vendor, which will be delivered to your car, but organizers said that alcohol won't be permitted at the concert.
If the event gets rained out, it will be rescheduled for Monday, Aug. 30. Sunday in Bayside, however, is looking cloudy and clear with little chance of rain, forecasts show as of Thursday.
