Woman Killed In House Fire In Queens

The 60-year-old woman was found unresponsive after a blaze broke out in her Bayside home on Sunday, police say.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS -- A 60-year-old woman was killed by a fire in her Queens home on Sunday, authorities said.

Rita Sklar was on the second floor of her home in Bayside when a blaze broke out at around 11:20 a.m., according to the NYPD. Police and firefighters responded to the scene on 217th Street near 67th Avenue, where they found Sklar unresponsive.

Medics rushed Sklar to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, where she died.
