16-Year-Old Fatally Shot In Bed-Stuy: NYPD

A 16-year-old was shot in the head Monday evening in Brooklyn, and his shooters remained at large a day later.

BED-STUY, NY — A 16-year-old died Monday after being shot in the head in Bed-Stuy, police said.

Amiere Hayes, 16, of Bed-Stuy, was shot about 5:50 p.m. on Marcus Garvey Boulevard near Willoughby Avenue, according to the NYPD.

Two men in black masks approached and shot the teenager three times, police told the New York Daily News.

He was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, as the shooters fled the scene.

The teenager's shooters, identified by police as between 16 and 18 years old, remained at large late Tuesday as police continued their investigation.

Police shared a video Tuesday of the suspected gunmen running down a sidewalk, with one holding what seems to be a gun.

The shooting happened less than a block away from the Hayes' home, according to police.

"He loves his mother, comes from a good family and did well in school. We’re destroyed,” the boy's cousin told the Daily News. “We don’t know who would do this.”
