2 Years After Unsolved Bed-Stuy Killing, Police Share Video Of 3 Cars
Police released new video showing three cars suspected of being involved in an unsolved 2020 drive-by shooting on a Bed-Stuy street.
BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Nearly two years after a man was gunned down on a Bed-Stuy street, police this week released surveillance video of three cars that they say were involved in the killing.
Derrick Garner, 41, was standing on Bainbridge Street near Lewis Avenue on the night of Aug. 17, 2020, police say. Three cars drove by, and someone in one of the vehicles shot Garner once in the left arm and once on the torso, according to police.
The cars were seen that night heading eastbound along Decatur Street, passing through the intersection of Malcolm X Boulevard, police said this week.

Police shared a brief surveillance video showing the three-car procession speeding down a neighborhood street. Police said all three cars were fleeing at a high speed, and the video appears to show the middle car's rear tires flying into the air as it barrels over a bump in the road.
Garner was taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Garner lived in East New York on Jerome Street, police say.
