Announcement: Registration Open Now for Free After-School Program
Hurry: Registration for Parks Afterschool Program opened on August 13 at participating Recreation Centers

The Parks Department's free afterschool program has opened its registration, but interested parents should hurry before the slots fill up.
The Park's Afterschool Program seeks to enhance communities and enrich the lives of children in New York City by providing safe, supportive, and structured environments that support overall health and well-being.
The Parks Afterschool Program provides children ages 6-13 the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities through quality educational, recreational, and cultural programs that promote the social, physical, intellectual and emotional development of children and youth.

The program is open September 12, 2011 – June 15, 2012, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., a critical time to engage school-aged children in structured activities.
Trained, caring staff create safe, supportive environments while complementing what children are learning in school and strengthening their sense of belonging in the communities in which they live.

The Parks Afterschool Program is free, but registration is required. Registration for Parks Afterschool started on August 13, and is open from 9:00am - 3:00pm, at participating Recreation Centers. To register your child, contact your nearest Recreation Center.
The are five locations in Brooklyn, including one at Von King Culture Center, 670 Lafayette, in Bedford-Stuyvesant, (718) 622-2082.
Parks Afterschool Programs are certified under the School-Age Child Care (SACC) Regulations of New York State.
