NEW YORK CITY — Every New Yorker has a favorite go-to restaurant, and food critics, food magazines and networks, and other groups agree, including some of them in 2025 "best of" lists and awards.
One measure of the quality of restaurants and eateries in New York City is the number of James Beard nominees and winners in 2025. This year, 20 restaurants and chefs were named semifinalists, and 10 restaurants and chefs were nominees, including Penny, the seafood spot in the East Village, and Atomix, the Korean restaurant in Nomad, and Chef Vijay Kumar of Semma.
