Bed-Stuy Attempted Rapist Who Preys on Elderly Arrested, Charged

Donald Deliotte of Howard Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant was arrested Tuesday night

The alleged Bed-Stuy attempted rapist who preys on elderly women has been identified as 48-year-old Donald Deliotte of Howard Avenue. Deliotte was arrested and charged Tuesday night, according to an NYPD spokesman.

Police were on the hunt for Deliotte, who was at large after preying on two elderly victims in two separate incidents beginning late October.

The first incident involving Deliotte took place on October 26, 2011, near Monroe Street and Gates Avenue in which Deliotte reportedly entered the workplace of the 77-year-old victim, dragged her to a secluded area and attempted to rape her. The victim struggled with the suspect until he fled the location.

The second incident was reported three weeks later, on November 18, near Fulton Street and Tompkins Avenue in which Deliotte reportedly entered the workplace of a 61-year-old victim and forcibly dragged the victim to the back of the location and attempted to rape her. The victim was removed to an area hospital with lacerations to her arms and face and a broken ankle. The suspect fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money.

Deliotte's arrest comes less than one week after New York City Police released new surveillance photos of the suspect and offered a $2,000 cash reward on information leading to his arrest.
