BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A fire tore through every apartment in a three-story apartment building in Bed-Stuy on Wednesday afternoon at around 4:45 p.m., an FDNY spokesperson confirmed to Patch. Twelve firetrucks filled with at least 60 firefighters were rushed to the scene, at 739 Park Ave. There were no injuries, and the fire was under control by 6:30 p.m., the FDNY commander on the scene told Patch.
While the FDNY could not confirm the cause of the fire, neighbors and occupants of the building told Patch they saw it start from the back of the building, and some of them said it looked like an electrical spark that had ignited the fire. The building's windows were burned out, its back walls knocked down, and in the back of the building, a heap of trash that appeared to be occupants' charred belongings was piled on a fire escape.

Occupants of the building told Patch hours after the fire started that the Red Cross planned to come and pick them up to bring them to a shelter.
