Bed-Stuy Rallies Behind Crossing Guard Recovering From A Stroke
Parents have raised more than $1,600 for a local school crossing guard who had a stroke last week, according to a fundraiser.
BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A beloved Bed-Stuy crossing guard who suffered a stroke last week is getting a boost from the parents and kids she helps each day.
Families in Bed-Stuy had raised more than $1,600 as of Wednesday for the crossing guard, Stacey, who works in front of the Uncommon Schools Excellence Boys Charter on Patchen Avenue, according to the GoFundMe.
The fundraiser, set up by a parent, comes as Stacey recovers at home from a stroke.

"Let's show her how much she means to us, our children, and the neighborhood she keeps safe every morning!" parent Kate Jordan-Farmer wrote on the fundraiser.
The outpouring of support comes just four days after Jordan-Farmer set up the fundraiser.

Since it was posted, Stacey was released from the hospital and is recovering at home, she wrote in an update.
"The stroke has impacted her mobility and she is currently in physical therapy to regain her strength," Jordan-Farmer said. "She let us know how much she missed her little ones and wanted to thank everyone for their calls and prayers."
The GoFundMe's $3,000 goal will help Stacey with medical bills and the loss of income from not working while she rests at home, organizers said. Jordan-Farmer did not immediately respond to a request for more details from Patch.
"Your kind gift today will help Stacey focus on getting better," the GoFundMe reads.
