Bed-Stuy Senior Centers Serve as Warming Centers During Arctic Chill
Find out where you can go to warm up during these chilly times.

For anyone who has ventured outside this week can attest to the bitter cold they suffer through while getting from point A to point B. But what can you do to escape the chill?
The City is providing warming centers located within Senior Centers in the five boroughs for a place to get out of the cold during the day from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. A full list of centers can be found here.

According to the City Housing Maintenance Code and State Multiple Dwelling Law, from Oct. 1 to May 31, building owners are required to keep the temperature in their buildings at at least 68 degrees from 6 a.m.- 10 p.m. if the temperature outside is below 55 degrees.
Building owners are also required by law to keep the temperature in their buildings at at least 55 degrees from 10 p.m.- 6 a.m. if the temperature outside is below 40 degrees.

Individuals living in conditions that do not meet the above standards can report their landlords and building conditions to the State by calling 311.
