BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Neighbors in Bed-Stuy will get the chance to decide how to spend $30,000 from the city starting with an event this week.

Residents at the Tompkins Houses can join a discussion on Friday about how to spend the $30,000, which is allocated to the community from a program known as Local NeighborhoodStat (Local NStat).

The annual program brings together government agencies with neighbors to decide how to spend funding focused on improving safety and wellbeing in 15 New York City Housing Developments across the city.

In the past, the program has led to an upgrade to the basketball courts and a six-month music program at the Tompkins Houses, according to reports from the time.

This season, residents will get to decide how to spend $30,000 to address economic stability, public safety, and more, according to City Hall. Neighbors will vote on a range of projects through the fall.
