Brooklyn Demands Justice For Jordan Neely
"You can't stop the revolution," protesters chanted on their way from Barclay's Center to Brooklyn Bridge.
PROSPECT HEIGHTS, NY — Brooklynites rallied outside Barclay's Center Thursday to demand justice for Jordan Neely, the man choked to death on the floor of a New York City subway.
Neely, 30, died Monday after a man identified as former Marine Daniel J. Penny put him in a 15-minute chokehold on the floor of a Manhattan F train Monday, according to police and reports.
Videos posted to social media show dozens gathered outside Barclay's Center and marching through the streets chanting "you can't stop the revolution."

The group marched to the Brooklyn Bridge, PIX 11 reported.
New Yorkers have protested across the city in the days since Neely's death — dozens gathered almost immediately Monday at the Broadway-Lafayette station where Neely was killed.

And, on Friday, another rally was held outside the Manhattan District Attorney's office to demand charges be brought against Penny.
"This is not a Jordan Neely issue, this is a societal issue. " a formerly homeless protester said. "People should be tired of Black men being f---ing symbolic.
"Black people are not hashtags."
Brooklyn lawmakers say Neely, who has a history of mental health issues, was also the victim of a broken system that fails to support those it should protect.
"New York failed Jordan," said Council Member Chi Ossé.
"It was the inevitable result of continued dehumanization of people suffering from mental illness. The fact that his killer was cheered and even assisted by others on the subway is sickening."
Council Member Lincoln Restler agreed.
"Jordan should have been met with compassion," said Restler. "Not violence."
