Brooklyn Middle-School Sex Attack: 12-Year-Old Barely Flees Basement Rape, Cops Say

An unthinkable act in a basement stairwell at Mott Hall IV Middle School.

OCEAN HILL, BROOKLYN — Three Brooklyn minors are being charged with attempted rape — along with sex abuse, unlawful imprisonment and committing a criminal sex act — after they attacked, forcibly touched and tried to full-on rape a 12-year-old girl at Mott Hall IV Middle School, located at Herkimer Street and Saratoga Avenue along the border of the Bed-Stuy and Ocean Hill neighborhoods, according to police.

The boys, aged 12 through 14, "forcibly touched a 12-year-old victim inside a stairwell in the basement" at Mott Hall on the afternoon of Thursday, Oct.6, a spokesman for the New York City Police Department (NYPD) told Patch.

Their case is now in the hands of the Kings County Family Court.

The girl who was attacked attends Ocean Hill Collegiate Charter School, an intimate and high-performing school on the same physical campus as Mott Hall, according to the New York Daily News.

"Police sources" told the Daily News that the boys shoved the girl to the floor and snatched some cash and a bus pass from her pocket — then pinned her down, pulled down her pants, exposed themselves to her and tried to rape her.

The girl eventually managed to push the boys off and run away, according to the Daily News.

A janitor reportedly spotted the boys fleeing the scene and notified the school's principal — who then discovered surveillance footage of the sick basement attack, and held an emergency meeting with the parents of all students involved.

According to the Daily News: "Sources said the older boy's mother admitted her son's involvement and then revealed that the teen had done the same thing the to the same girl only days earlier on Sept. 30. The school also discovered video footage of that incident, sources said."

The boys have also been charged with grand larceny, a police spokesman told Patch — although he could not elaborate on what, exactly, led to that charge. Patch has reached out to the Kings County Criminal Court for more information; we'll update this post if/when we hear back.
