Off-Duty Cop Charged With Drunken Driving, Assault In Bed Stuy: NYPD

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested on drunken driving and assault charges in Bed-Stuy, according to police, and multiple outlets report the officer stands accused of shooting at another driver.

Efrain Alejandro, 29, was also charged with menacing about 2:15 a.m. Saturday, police said

Alejandro stands accused of shooting at an Uber driver on Tompkins Avenue near Vernon Avenue before crashing into several parked cars, according to New York Post sources and a Daily News report.

On-duty officers who arrived at the scene were responding to reports of shots fired, only to find Alejandro, who was placed under arrest and brought to Brooklyn Hospital, the Post reported.

Alejandro's blood-alcohol levelswas at the legal limit of .08 percent, according to officials.
