Bed-Stuy Fire at DeKalb and Thompson Sparked by Dryer in Basement, Fire Officials Say
Dozens of firemen and two fire trucks attacked the fire Monday afternoon. DeKalb was completely closed off by the NYPD.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Dozens of firemen put out a dryer fire at the old Marlborough building at 755 DeKalb St. in Bed-Stuy late Monday morning while residents of the building were evacuated and people living in neighboring buildings came out to watch. There were no reported injuries.
The NYPD closed off DeKalb Street where it intersects with Thompson Street for about half an hour while the FDNY extinguished the fire.
The fire broke out around 11:30 a.m., and was under control by noon, an FDNY spokesperson told Patch. The culprit was apparently a clothes dryer that was a bit overzealous and caught fire, the spokesperson said.
