Man Fatally Stabbed In Bed-Stuy Apartment, Police Say

A 35-year-old man was found stabbed in the chest inside a home late Sunday night, according to the NYPD.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A Sheepshead Bay man was fatally stabbed inside a Bedford-Stuyvesant home late Sunday night, according to police.

Desmond Holmes, 35, was found stabbed in the chest inside an apartment building on Vernon and Nostrand avenues about 10 p.m., NYPD officials confirmed.

Police officials could not say if a knife or other weapon had been found at the scene.

Medics responding to a 911 call rushed Holmes to Woodhull Hospital where he later died, according to police.

A person of interest was taken into custody but no charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon, police said.

The 79th precinct, which covers eastern Bed-Stuy, has reported eight murders so far this year, up from five murders at this time a year ago.
