Manhole Catches Fire In Bed-Stuy; Dozens Lose Power
Some 45 Con Edison customers lost power Tuesday after a manhole fire in Brooklyn.

BED-STUY, NY — Dozens of Bed-Stuy residents saw power outages Tuesday after a manhole fire, authorities said.
Some 45 locals lost power after manhole caught fire about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on Fulton Street and Nostrand Avenue, according to the FDNY and Con Edison.
Power would be restored by 12 p.m. Wednesday, according to Con Edison.

Authorities say the fire started after a cable failed, and crews worked overnight to replace the cable.
Videos posted to social media by Council Member Chi Ossé show smoke billowing from a manhole at the intersection.
