New Indian-Inspired Café & Wine Bar "Cheeni" Lands In Bed-Stuy
Cheeni, a new "Indian-ish" café and wine bar, has opened in Bed-Stuy, bringing fresh flavor to the local food scene.
BED-STUY, NY — There’s a new place in Bed-Stuy where the chai flows and the wine pours.
Cheeni, a self-described “Indian-ish” café and wine bar, opened its doors earlier this month, bringing a unique blend of flavors to 485 Tompkins Avenue, between Decatur Street and MacDonough Street.
The new neighborhood spot offers a mix of breakfast and lunch dishes, along with evening snack plates like crunchy lentil flour chips served with house-made green and tamarind-date chutneys. For breakfast, one standout is the Cheeni Breakfast Plate, which blends Indian flavors with classic diner staples — think masala-spiced eggs, crispy tater tots, bacon, paratha, and house chutneys.

They also offer an assorted selection of morning pastries to enjoy with coffee or masala chai. According to the owners, all pastries are made fresh in-house and available until 11:30 a.m.
In the evening hours, starting at 5 p.m., you can indulge in a selection of wine and beer along with house-made desserts such as Tea-ramisu biscuits, which are dipped in masala chai and layered with cardamom cream, or a Mango Pavlova, a crisp pavlova topped with mango curd.
