New Map Shows Bed-Stuy Light on Trees

Is there enough green in Bed-Stuy?

A new "Green Map" of Brooklyn has broken down the borough's preponderance of street trees, and Bed-Stuy got a bit of bad news.

The neighborhood is lagging behind others nearby when it comes to the volume of street trees on each block.

The map, published by the apartment-rating website Rentenna and posted on Brokelyn, shows a distinct lack of green in many parts of Bed-Stuy.

While several blocks near the intersection of Lewis Avenue and Halsey Street had a touch of green, most areas were bare or a little light on street trees. Ratings were also boosted for neighborhoods that had farmers markets.

What do you think? Could the neighborhood use a few more tree beds along your sidewalk? Let us know in the comments.
