BROOKLYN, NY — A suspected serial stabber responsible for multiple Queens attacks likely carried out a J train stabbing in Brooklyn Wednesday, police said.

Jermain Rigueur, who worked at Bed-Stuy's Woodhull Hospital, is thought to be responsible for a nine-day stabbing spree in Queens and Brooklyn that culminated in multiple attacks Wednesday, police said.

Rigueur has not officially been arrested related to the J train stabbing near Bed-Stuy Wednesday, but he faces weapons, assault and attempted murder charges related to four attacks incidents in Queens, said Joseph Kenny, the NYPD's chief of detectives.

Rigueur has been connected to the J train attack by his clothing, surveillance video footage and a lanyard identifying him as a Woodhull employee, according to Kenny.

Rigueur was pacing back and forth on a J train approaching the Flushing Avenue station, according to Kenny. He stood over a stranger and as the doors opened at Flushing, Rigueur "plunged a knife into his victims' chest" and left the train, Kenny said.

Police said the Brooklyn stabbing seems like a random attack by Rigueur, not a specifically targeted assault.

Rigueur has worked for Woodhull Hospital since mid-November, before which he had cleared a background check, according to Dr. Mitchell Katz, CEO and President of NYC Health + Hospitals.

Given the hospital's zero-tolerance policy towards violence, Rigueur has been placed on administrative leave, Katz said.
