Only 1 Bed-Stuy Eatery To Join NYC Restaurant Week 2022

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Residents in Bed-Stuy looking to take a bite out of NYC Restaurant Week this year will only have one choice in the neighborhood.

American restaurant IV Purpose is the only neighborhood eatery to make the list of restaurants included in 2022's first Restaurant Week, which launched reservations this week.

The Fulton Street spot will offer $29 lunch and $29 dinner options starting Jan. 18. (Despite the name, Restaurant Week will run for four weeks from Jan. 18 to Feb. 13).

Residents willing to travel a bit can find a few more options in Crown Heights, East Williamsburg and other nearby neighborhoods.

The event includes two-course lunches and three-course dinners set at $29, $39 and $59.

"With hundreds of restaurants rolling out special prix-fixe menus for a limited time, this is your chance to try it all in the most vibrant dining scene in the world," the event's website states.

This isn't the first time Bed-Stuy, and the borough, have had a limited showing in the deal-driven event. Last year, Bed-Stuy had three eateries on the list.

In 2019, only 12 Brooklyn eateries made the list for restaurant week, a number so low that Brooklyn started its own tradition to highlight the borough's best eats.

This year, 46 Brooklyn restaurants made the cut. And though a step up from previous years for the outer boroughs, Manhattan still dominates the list with 380 eateries offering deals.

Restaurant Week comes amid a surge in coronavirus cases fueled by the omicron variant. Establishments are taking precautions and will require vaccinations.

"While New York City is open, Covid-19 remains a reality for all of us," the event's website states.

"We aim to provide you with the most current information about our NYC Winter Outing programs, but due to ongoing developments, we recommend checking with venues before you go. Proof of vaccination is required for everyone over the age of 5 to participate in indoor activities, including dining in restaurants and attending Broadway shows."
