Police Blotter: A robbery, a pick-pocket and a DWI
A weekly roundup of news in the 79th Precinct

Last week the 79th Precinct experienced a 35 percent decrease in crime (18 vs 28), compared to last year at this same time. Also, there was a reported 34 percent overall decrease in crime for the month (77 vs 118), compared to last year at this same time.

Robbery

On Monday, February 14, at 3:30 am, a male was pushed to the ground and had his backpack ripped from his back and wallet removed from his pocket while walking down Spencer Street. The two perpetrators fled towards Myrtle Avenue. Investigation continues.
Pick Pocket

On Monday February 14, at 5:00 pm, a female reported that while on the City Bus (B52) heading down Gates Avenue between Throop Avenue and Marcus Garvey Boulevard, an unknown person picked her pocket. Investigation continues.
DWI
On Friday, February 18, at 12:18 am, a male was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated at the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Atlantic Avenue. The male was observed operating a 2005 Kawasaki Motorcycle without a helmet, and had a strong odor of alcohol. (No injuries).
Assault
On Friday, February 18, at 10:30 am, a student was arrested for assaulting a teacher inside of a public school located on Macon Street after he was asked to remove his hat. The teacher was taken to Brooklyn Hospital.
