NEW YORK CITY — Throughout 2025, several data-based national rankings and safety grades helped New Yorkers navigate the complex landscape of health care, and make decisions about the best places to have a baby, find a specialist or take care of other medical issues.

Here’s a review of how New York City stacked up in analyses and rankings from various publications, health care watchdog groups and others:

U.S. News & World Report’s respected rankings included looks at the best maternity, children’s, specialty and overall hospitals in New York City.

The watchdog Leapfrog Group’s safety grades use both data and patient surveys to measure New York City hospitals’ records on patient safety, infection rates and other patient experiences.

Healthgrades, which maintains a comprehensive database of ratings and comparisons for physicians, hospitals and health care providers, also released ratings on hospitals in New York City and others.
