Police Blotter: Four Robberies and a Drug Arrest
A weekly roundup of crime activity in the 79th Precinct
Crime is up in the 79th Precinct for the week of November 21 – November 27 (34 incidents, versus 29 incidents), compared to this same week in 2010. For the month, crime is 5 percent (126 incidents, versus 132 incidents), compared to this same 28-day period last year. And year to date, crime is down 1 percent (1,675 incidents, versus 1,698 incidents), compared to this same time period in 2010.
Drug Arrest:
On Saturday, December 3, 79th precinct's police anti-crime team executed a search warrant at 7 Albany Ave and seized four handguns and a large amount of marijuana. Two males were arrested in connection with the warrant.

Four Robberies:
On Monday, November 28, at approximately 12:30pm, three males committed an armed robbery of the San Jose Deli and Grocery Bodega, located at 960 Myrtle Ave. According to reports, one of the men approached and then threatened the merchant with a firearm, while another removed $1,800 from the register. Both males then fled into the Tompkins Houses. An investigation by the detective squad resulted in the apprehension of one suspect. The other two are at large. The investigation continues.

On Friday, December 2, at approximately 2:30am, a woman was robbed while walking down Monroe Street and Tompkins Avenue. According to reports, she was walking when a black male approached her from behind and then forcibly removed the female's wallet from her handbag.
On Friday, December 2, at approximately 2:04am, patrol officers from the 81st precinct observed 3 men surround another man on Willoughby Avenue and Walworth Street. According to reports, the men punched the victim about the head and body, and then removed his phone and wallet. Patrol officers apprehended and charged the three men, 17-21 years of age, in connection with the robbery.
On Sunday, December 4, at approximately 1:15am, a 73-year-old man was on Ellery Street and Throop Avenue when two Hispanic males approximately 25 years old grabbed him from behind and remove $80 from his pocket. The perpetrators fled down Ellery Street.
