Police Blotter: Shooting Leads to Car Chase, Heroin Bust
A weekly roundup of crime activity in the 81st Precinct
Crime in the 81st Precinct has dropped 3 percent (31 incidents versus 32 incidents) for the week of November 14 – November 21, compared to this same week in 2010. For the month, crime has increased 4 percent (133 incidents versus 127 incidents), compared to this same 28-day period last year. And year to date, crime is showing a 2.5 increase over last year (1,273 incidents versus 1,242 incidents).
Heroine Bust/Shooting:
On Tuesday, November 29, at approximately 12:30am in front of 279 Malcolm X Boulevard, a 28-year-old man was shot in the left arm by an unknown perpetrator. The crime started when a nearby officer on the corner Malcolm X and MacDonough said he heard five shots. As he approached the scene, he saw two cars take off. The officer pursued one and called for help with the other. The officer caught up with the car, had all three men in the car get out, at which time, they searched the car and found 6 sleeves (600 decks) of heroin, all three males were arrested. Cops also were able to catch up with the other vehicle. However, the driver had already jumped out of the car and fled, leaving behind his jacket, which had 9 sleeves of heroin in his jacket. The shooting victim said he was shot right before the car pursuit, but is denying any knowledge of the other men involved. He was taken to Kings County Hospital and released in good condition. Police are still investigating the victim’s possible involvement and are looking for the fourth driver.

Sexual Assault of a Minor by a Minor
Monday, November 28, at approximately 3:30pm, an 11-year-old female was a victim of a sexual act by an underage male inside of a building on Fulton Street between Marcus Garvey Blvd. and Lewis Avenue. According to the victim, she was walking when suddenly she was pulled into a stairwell, where the perpetrator forced anal sex on her. The girl returned to her apartment and told her mother of the incident, and the mother called the police. The girl was taken to Interfaith Hospital where she was treated. The perpetrator is known to the family and was identified to police, and they are looking for him now.

Two Shootings:
On Saturday, November 26, at approximately 11:40am, a 49-year-old man was shot once in the leg on MacDougal Street between Fulton and Howard Aves. According to police reports, officers received a call that 5 shots were fired. Police pulled up to the location to find the man shot in the leg. According to the victim, he said he was traveling westbound in his car on MacDougal Street, when a guy wearing a black ski mask approached his car, pulled out a firearm and began shooting. One of the shots penetrated the car and hit the victim in the leg. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was treated and released in good condition. Detectives are investigating the case.
Friday, November 25, at approximately 11:50pm, a 20-year-old man was shot once in the abdomen on the 3rd fl of 120 Chauncey Street. The victim says he was in a dispute with an unidentified male when he was shot in the hallway. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
Weapons Recovery
Wednesday, November 23, at approximately at 8:30am, a narcotics module of the 81st Precinct was doing a sting watch on Stuyvesant and Vernon Avenues when they arrested two men, 28 and 24 years of age, both of whom were in possession of a firearm. The 28-year-old was bleeding from a bullet graze to the chest. He said an undercover officer had shot him earlier that morning on Willoughby and Stuyvesant. But later, it was discovered he had been shot at 7:30am by another perpetrator who he did not want to identify.
