Police Blotter: Man Shot in the Buttocks on Gates Avenue

A roundup of crime activity in the 79th precinct

Crime incidents are down 17 percent in the 79th Precinct (25 incidents, versus 30 incidents), for the week of March 18 – March 24, compared to this same week in 2012. For the month, crime is down 22 percent (100 incidents, versus 128 incidents), compared to this same 28-day period in 2012. And year to date, crime is down so far 18 percent (315 incidents, versus 384 incidents), compared to this same time period last year.

Two Shootings:

On Thursday, March 28, at approximately 1:50 a.m., a man was shot and killed on Madison Street. According to 79th Precinct police reports, the victim, 28, was inside 199 Madison Street, when he was shot one time in the chest.  Police arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. One firearm was discovered at the scene, and the detective squad is investigating the incident.

On Monday, April 1, at approximately 4:20 p.m., a man was shot on Gates Avenue. According to 79th Precinct police reports, the victim, 18, was in front of 590 Gates Avenue when he was shot one time in the buttocks. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital and is listed in stable condition, and the detective squad is investigating the incident.
