Police Blotter: Two Pizza Delivery Men Robbed, One Robber is Apprehended

A weekly roundup of crime activity in the 79th Precinct

The 79th Precinct experienced a 6 percent increase in crime last week (35 incidents vs 33 incidents), compared to this same time period last year. For the month, there was a 5 percent increase in crime (153 incidents vs 146 incidents), compared to this same 28-day period in 2010.

*Robberies:  

On Wednesday August 24, at approximately 1:50am, a pizza delivery man was the victim of a robbery inside of 281 Quincy Street. The man reports that he  had just delivered a pizza when he was walking in front of 281 Quincy Street. It was at this time when an unknown male perpetrator forced him into the lobby of 281 Quincy St and forcibly removed $50.00 from his pockets. The man was unharmed.

On Thursday August 25, at 9:30pm, a female was the victim of a robbery in front of 320 Greene Ave. The female victim reports that she was walking past the Greene Avenue address when three perpetrators who were wearing masks approached her. One of the men displayed a firearm and demanded her purse. The perpetrators stole her purse and then fled southbound on Franklin Ave.  

On Saturday August 27, a pizza delivery man was on his to make a delivery on his bicycle when he was approached by a black male who forcibly took the delivery man's bicycle and $50.00. The victim flagged down a patrol car from the 79th Precinct who immediately conducted a canvass for the perpetrator. The officers from the 79th Precinct observed the perpetrator on the bicycle who ditched the bicycle and fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued and the perpetrator was apprehended and arrested. The male was identified as Ronald Bowles a black male, 29 years old.

Cell Phone Snatch: 

On Friday August 26, at 7:50pm, a female victim was walking and talking on her iPhone on Halsey Street near the intersection of Nostrand Avenue when an unknown black male black, approximately 16 years old, who was riding a bicycle approached her and snatched the phone out of her hand. The perpetrator fled southbound on Nostrand Avenue
