Bed-Stuy Man Shot Dead in Front of Girlfriend: Report

Lionell McLean, 29, was fatally shot in the head and torso on Hancock Street.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Brooklyn detectives are searching for those responsible for the murder of a 29-year-old Bed-Stuy resident last Tuesday evening.

Lionell McLean, 29, who lived on the 700 block of Herkimer Street along the southern border of Bed-Stuy, was found unconscious and unresponsive in front of 666 Hancock St. around 7:30p.m., according to the NYPD — less than a mile from home.

Police and witnesses told DNAinfo that McLean, a father of two, was with his girlfriend at the time. The couple was reportedly fighting with a man and a woman on Herkimer Street when the man pulled out a gun and shot McLean.

The man and woman then reportedly fled as McLean’s girlfriend tried to revive him. (Click here for the full DNAinfo report.)

A Facebook user named Lee McLean posted to her page Wednesday: “This Feels So Unreal Im Speechless I Love You So Much Baby Just Come Back To Me Please.”

First responders found bullet wounds in McClean’s head and torso when they arrived to the crime scene Tuesday, according to the NYPD.

McClean was immediately transported to Interfaith Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, police said.

An NYPD spokesperson said Wednesday that police hadn’t yet made any arrests in the homicide case.
